The Spanish coach signed off with a commanding 3-0 win over Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening, marking his final appearance on the bench for the Soweto giants.
In his last post-match press conference, Riveiro left no room for speculation, stating firmly that Pirates will remain his only home in the PSL.
“No, never. Once, always,” he said.
“I will never coach any other team in South Africa. Orlando Pirates is the only club that I could have the motivation, courage, energy, and heart to coach in this country. No doubts.”
Riveiro also threw his support behind interim coach Mandla Ncikazi and the current technical team as they prepare to finish the season without him.
“They know what to do. We’re talking about people with huge experience in South African football. We’ve spent three years together and have a clear guideline on how things are done here. There’s not going to be big changes over the next four games. The players know them well, and they know the players better than anyone else.”
“I’ll be there for them in whatever they need. Together, we will manage to finalise the season, and I have zero doubts that it’s going to be a good month for the team.”
Riveiro leaves Pirates with five trophies, three in the MTN8 and two Nedbank Cups.
