Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro made a plea to the supporters after their big win over Royal AM on Tuesday evening.

The Buccaneers bounced back from their opening-day loss with a 4-2 thrashing of the KwaZulu-Natal side at Orlando Stadium.

Zakhele Lepasa opened his account for the season with a brace, while Monnapule Saleng and Bandile Shandu also netted.

It was also Pirates' first home game of the season but the Spanish coach says he hopes to see more supporters show up to the stadium.

"As coaches we usually want to see or have the game under control, for the fans I think it was a good show, it was entertaining, many minutes with the game going side to side and with the uncertainty about the result as well. So this is a spectacle, happy for the fans," Riveiro told SuperSport after the game.

"It's very important, we as a club we need to capitalize, the fan base that we have is unique.

"I'd still like to see more numbers in the stadium, the ones who are coming are pushing us all the way and there's still space for more. Hopefully now with the four goals I think we will recruit somebody else for the next one."

Despite scoring four goals on the night, Riveiro was not too pleased with the overall performance from his side.

"To be honest, I think we played much better two days ago than today, but today we were accurate in the opportunities that we created, in one penalty, one transition and one ball behind the line," he added.

"But we were not really in control or not as much as I would like. We were more dangerous in transition because we could not defend as high as we would like, we were defending very low. That gave us opportunities in transitions as well because our players, our forwards are good also when they have the space to run. So happy with a 3-0, we did very well but there's still room to improve."
