42 Players! Riveiro Talks Pirates Squad

Jose Riveiro, the Orlando Pirates head coach, has spoken about the number of players in his squad while hinting on what can be expected going into the new season.

Riveiro and his technical team are preparing the Buccaneers for their opening match of the season on Saturday against SuperSport United in the MTN8.

Having returned from Spain where the team had their pre-season for the second year in succession, the tactician has hinted that his squad is almost complete with not many additions expected.

So far, Bucs have added the likes of Angolan attacker Gilberto, Selaelo Rasebotja and Dimpho Madalane, among other new faces in the squad.

"We have 42 players in the squad right now, so if I said that I need something else, it's going to be unfair with the guys that I have in our squad. It's full of quality, full of talent and full of ambition, so I think in terms of numbers, we are more than okay," said Riveiro, speaking to journalists during the MTN8 launch in Auckland Park, Johannesburg on Wednesday afternoon.

"Obviously, we have very good players in each and every position, so yeah, we're good to go. Obviously, in this moment of the season nobody is in his prime, and nobody is in his best, we are just starting, but at the same time the competition is forcing us to start competing in our best and make sure that the result is on our side on Saturday," the coach said.
