Bloemfontein Celtic became the final side to advance to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals after defeating TS Sporting on penalties
Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema made wholesale changes, with only Justice Chabalala, Mpusana Tani, Siphelele Luthuli, Given Mashikinya and Sifiso Ngobeni retaining their places.
Sporting had top flight experience on the bench in the form of Sifiso Myeni, Oscarine Masuluke and Jemondre Dickens, on-loan from Bakgaga.
Abantu Bemthetho were forceful in the opening exchanges, pinning back Siwelele in their own half as Mbulelo Wagaba was the main man causing trouble for Siwelele but his strikes were not clinical.
Seema's charges had a rare chance to go ahead just before the halftime with a free-kick on the edge of the box. but Victor Letsoalo's low curler was saved by the Sporting shot-stopper Mlungisi Maranti.
Mandla Mathaba's men were on the front foot early in the second stanza but there was a brief delay in the match eight minutes from the break after Maranti was booked for wearing a long sleeve shirt that clashed with the official gear and he had to go outside the field to remove it.
Abantu Bamthetho lost concentration immediately thereafter, as Sera Motebang made a great run on the left channel and delivered a square ball that was tapped home by Letsoalo from close range for the openin goal.
Decide Chauke almost levelled matters for Sporting on the hour-mark, after making a mazy run into the box but his low shot missed the bottom corner by a whisker.
The hosts eventually levelled matters with 12 minutes remaining after Letsoalo's headed clearance from a cross rebounded off defender Francisco Muchanga and sailed into the back of the net, ultimately sending the game to extra-time.
Sporting were awarded a penalty after Chaine brought down Katlego Mojela inside the box with his diving hands towards the end of the first stanza of extra-time. However, Abantu Bemthetho could not capitalise, as Chauke's spot-kick was saved by Chaine on the right side of the post.
Sporting brought on experienced goalkeeper Masuluke in the dying minutes in place of Maranti for the shoot-out but n the end, Chaine was the hero for Siwelele in the shoot-out, as he saved the decisive last spot-kick from Masuluke to send Celtic to the semi-final draw.
