The Moses Mabhida Stadium will again host the final of the Nedbank Cup on May 18, the Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza announced on Tuesday.
"The venue that was preferred by the sponsors for this final was Bloemfontein but unfortunately due to issues beyond our control we could not secure that venue. The final is now going to Moses Mabhida Stadium on the 18th of May," Khoza told journalists.
That venue appears to be the default for the PSL and there has been an uproar in the football fraternity over why other stadiums aren't given the chance to host the final. But the league previously chose Cape Town last year for the final between Free State Stars and Maritzburg United. The Durban-based venue has hosted three of the last 11 finals under the Nedbank sponsorship.
Chippa United will host Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final of the cup next weekend, with Golden Arrows welcoming National First Division side TS Galaxy in the other game.
The final has now been confirmed to be heading to Moses Mabhida Stadium, and Khoza also revealed that the PSL awards would also be held in Durban on Sunday, May 19.
