GladAfrica Championship Wrap 30-31 October

Saturday 30 October
Polokwane City 1-0 University of Pretoria

The University of Pretoria failed to rubber-stamp second spot in the GladAfrica Championship on Saturday afternoon following a 1-0 loss to Polokwane City.

AmaTuks entered the match on the back of a midweek triumph over Cape Town Spurs, and now has Rise and Shine placed third on the table on the back of this win in the city of Polokwane.

Jomo Cosmos 1-1 Free State Stars

Jomo Cosmos' struggles and search for a win continued as a 1-1 draw against Free State Stars in Vosloorus saw the spoils shared.

An exciting spell seemed on the cards after the first half finished 1-1, with Thabo Maphakisa getting Ezenkosi on board before seeing D'Angelo Kazeem level it up as in the end it finished all square.

Richards Bay FC 2-0 TS Sporting

Richards Bay jumped two places from seventh to fifth place with the help of a 2-0 victory over TS Sporting at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Sakhile Hlongwa netted the early strike inside the first half and Mpho Mathebula made the result safe just before time.

Hungry Lions FC 0-1 Venda Football Academy

Hungry Lions FC succumbed to their third straight loss in the league as the Venda Football Academy arrived at the Sivos Training Centre Stadium to collect a 1-0 win.

Venda entered this clash on the back of an eighth-match winless streak, and banked on Rudzani Thobo's first half finish to end their barren run as Lions continue to lose ground with the top.

Pretoria Callies 2-1 Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC

Pretoria Callies cracked a run of back-to-back defeats following a 2-1 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC at the Wits Football Stadium.

Kgomotso Mosadi got the opener in the second half before a penalty from former Chippa United striker Rhulani Manzini levelled matters only for Lebogang Mlangeni's own-goal to settle things.

Sunday 31 October
Uthongathi FC 1-0 JDR Stars

JDR Stars weren't able to take advantage of the University of Pretoria's loss as they went down 1-0 away to Uthongathi FC.

Former Orlando Pirates hard man Issa Sarr netted the winner in the middle of the first half to see the Cane Cutters solidify third spot, two points adrift Stars.

Black Leopards 2-1 Platinum City Rovers

Black Leopards eased their relegation fears at home following a 2-1 victory over the new boys Platinum City Rovers.

Prior to the match, Leopards had won only once this season in addition to four successive defeats however Tiklas Thutlwa in particular steered Lidoda Duvha on the right path this time around.

Cape Town Spurs 1-1 Cape Town All Stars

Cape Town Spurs handed coach Shaun Bartlett his first point with a 1-1 draw against Cape Town All Stars in the Cape derby.

Bartlett's tenure started with a 4-2 hammering against AmaTuks in midweek, but were determined for redemption this time around with Ashley Cupido getting them on target however it ended 1-1.
