Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane, a former PSL Footballer of the Season, has explained why the award should go to one of his teammates.
Zwane spent a big part of this season recovering from injury and watching the Sundowns matches from the sidelines and, in his absence, Lucas Ribeiro Costa established himself as the most influential figure in the team.

Like a true Brazilian, Costa has dazzled opponents and inspired the Tshwane giants to success with both goals and assists this season. He is the top scorer with 17 goals and 12 assists in the domestic competitions.
After the 26-year-old Ribeiro bagged a brace against rookies Magesi FC in the Betway Premiership at Loftus Stadium on Sunday, Zwane said there is no one more fitting to receive the big individual award this season.
"That's obvious. I think it's Ribeiro. You can see how he helped the team. He did wonders this season. I think they must give it to him. He deserves it. I think you can agree with me," the Bafana Bafana international said during the post match press conference.
'Mshishi', as Zwane is affectionately known, signed a one year extension with Sundowns and he is nowhere near thinking about calling it a day. The 35-year-old still has the same energy to win and play for the national team.
There's the FIFA Club World Cup to look forward to and, if he performs well, the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco at the end of the year is a big possibility for him.

"For me, to be honest, I have not put a time on when I will finish. As long as I still feel fresh and fit, I will keep on going. To be honest, I still want to win more and represent the country. So, I have to push myself," he said.
Zwane will have a big role to play when Sundowns take on Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League final, starting with the first leg in at Loftus Stadium this Saturday. It's another opportunity to add to his long list of achievements at the club.
