Goals from Themba Zwane and Jeremy Brockie sealed the win for Sundowns on the day, enjoying the celebrations after the full-time whistle.
Now the two sides will face off once again and as much as it is a friendly encounter, statistics between the two prove that it is always competitive.
In the previous competitive meetings in the past five seasons and in 11 encounters in all competitions, Chiefs have won just three, lost four and drawn four against Sundowns.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Pitso Mosimane will defend the Shell Helix Ultra Cup this weekend or whether Ernst Middendorp will be able to do one better against Sundowns in preparation for their league encounter against later this month.
