No Guarantees On Sundowns Future For Midfielder

No Guarantees On Sundowns Future For Midfielder

After spending the last four months on loan, a Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder faces a tough few weeks regarding what happens next in his career.

Sundowns are heading to the FIFA Club World Cup in the next few days and Soccer Laduma understands that players who were out on loan will not be travelling with the team for the competition.

One player who was away for the second part of the season is midfielder Lebohang Maboe, who spent some time at SuperSport United. While he was able to get game time with Matsatsantsa, there are no guarantees over his future at Sundowns, especially after the arrival of Jayden Adams in midfield earlier this year.

Maboe still has a contract with Sundowns and a decision on what happens next in his career is likely to be made during or after the Club World Cup.

The reason Maboe joined SuperSport was to get more game time and he got exactly that. There has been talk of SuperSport possibly being sold, but Soccer Laduma understands that the club is going to keep their top flight status and indications are that they would be keen on holding onto Maboe for next season, on loan from Sundowns.

Sundowns have already let go of Rivaldo Coetzee and Sipho Mbule, who was on loan to Sekhukhune United, and will be making more decisions on players who were away at other clubs for the campaign. The likes of Luvuyo Phewa, Etiosa Ighodaro, Sifiso Ngobeni and Thembinkosi Lorch are not expected to return to Chloorkop.
