The former Esperance coach was happy with how his side performed on the night against a stubborn City side.
“Amazing and again a very good performance again. Not an easy game, first half quite tricky we had to make some corrections in our positioning at halftime – message was well received. Second half, I think we coped even more – beautiful goals, good performance,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV.
“The boys are really fighting for what they want so much, we really committed for every match and now its go for next one and next one and try to well try to get it. But we need to respect everybody because the next opponent will again be a very tough one,” he added.
Cardoso was asked about the impact of Man of the Match Marcelo Allende and praised the enter squad.
“I think we are a humble team and humility it’s not a bad value not too much if it’s too much of course it’s not proper but having it in the right sense understanding step-by-step it’s how you make a career working hard,” Cardoso said.
“That’s what my boys are doing – Marcelo is obviously one of them – a high-quality player but it’s beautiful to see how they remain humble. We made some corrections at halftime.
“I told them there’s something that are not ok and they tried to do it immediately in the second half and we got a goal because of that.
“I’m a very proud coach, proud of the club where I work, proud of the family that supports this club or the values that we grow and also proud of the work of the boys, my staff.
“The staff around us but still a lot to fight, still a lot to fight. We have four finals to play let’s focus on the next one now,” he continued.
