Mamelodi Sundowns' veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango appears to still have a future at the club, if what head coach Miguel Cardoso is anything to go by.
Onyango has stepped in recently in the absence of Ronwen Williams and has, as usual, played a pivotal role to ensure Sundowns get over the line in the Betway Premiership.

The Tshwane giants are just one point away from securing the title, but could be officially crowned kings of local football again if Orlando Pirates drop points against Golden Arrows, before the reigning champions take on Chippa United on Wednesday.
Onyango, who turned 40 on Thursday, has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season. He has kept eight clean sheets, including the Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC over the weekend, which Sundowns comfortably won 3-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Speaking to media after the match, Cardoso spoke about how important the Ugandan goalkeeper is to the club.
"Having big men amongst us is important. He is big, but he is huge. He is huge on his heart, huge on his brains. Together with Ronwen, they make a wonderful team of goalkeepers. We have Reyaad (Pieterse) who is at the back, but also supports every day, Jody (February) who also puts pressure and Sanele (Tshabalala)," Cardoso said after the Stellies clash.

"We have a group of goalkeepers who are quite strong, but based on the sustained work of Denis and Ronwen. We are pretty comfortable in that position. Denis is alive and kicking, as we usually say."
Onyango is expected to travel with Sundowns to the FIFA Club World Cup and could be given another campaign to be part of the first team as an understudy to Williams next season.
