Cassius Mailula has made no secret of where his heart lies, sending what can only be described as a ‘come and get me’ plea to his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 23-year-old attacker’s future has come into sharp focus following the end of his loan spell with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.
In an interview on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified, Mailula was unequivocal when asked about where he sees himself next.
“I love Sundowns. Sundowns is home,” he declared.
“Given the President and the Chairman know that it’s my first love. And obviously, before I can think of other things or other teams, I will start with Sundowns. If things don’t go well in terms of negotiations and all of that, then I can start to think of other things—but for me, Sundowns is my home. So Sundowns first.”
Mailula’s heartfelt statement will no doubt alert the Sundowns hierarchy, who could now consider bringing back one of their brightest talents.
Having made a name for himself at Chloorkop before moving to Toronto FC in Major League Soccer and then spending a loan spell at Wydad, Mailula has the experience and pedigree that could benefit the reigning Betway Premiership champions.
However, a potential deal would depend on Toronto, where Mailula remains contracted, meaning that Sundowns would have to negotiate a transfer fee with the MLS outfit, if they are to land the striker.
Mailula managed five goals and seven assists in 27 matches for Wydad last season.
