Larsen: Nobody Expects Magesi To Get These Results

Magesi FC head coach Clinton Larsen praised his players despite throwing a two-goal lead against Kaizer Chiefs.

The Limpopo outfit had to settle for a share of the spoils after playing to a 2-2 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Larsen feels his side should be credited for their display, especially after their tough schedule in recent weeks.

"Firstly I've got to credit my players, three games in seven days, we played on Sunday, we got back on Monday morning at 5 O'clock. Kaizer Chiefs played on Saturday, rested Sunday, Monday, Tuesday . That's the difference in terms of how fresh they were," Larsen said on SuperSport TV.

"And that's why we wanted to push for early goals because we knew the legs would go in the end and we've done just that. I can live with the way we conceded the first goal. But the second is a defensive error, individual errors, we can't blame the team for that

"After all is said and done, nobody expects us to get these types of results, we played Pirates and Chiefs within ten days and to beat Pirates and draw with Kaizer Chiefs, I think credit must go to Magesi as a football club.

"We've done the hard work to earn the three points and were let down by one individual mistake at the end, that's part of football. Players make mistakes, it's difficult to accept when you're so close to three points

"Coming into this game we played five games and we had only scored one, so it was important for us to start scoring goals and most importantly, we want to be resolute defensively and not concede soft goals like we've done today."
