Result: Magesi FC 2-2 Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 30 October 2025

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Coach Nasreddine Nabi made three changes from the loss to SuperSport United, as Given Msimango, Mfundo Vilakazi and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo were given their first starts of the campaign.

With Ignacio Miguel missing through suspension, Chiefs fell behind as early as the fifth minut when slack defending allowed Wonderboy Makhubu to drift into the box and send a neat header past Fabrice Ntwari.

The Soweto giants dominated possession thereafter but were restricted to efforts from distance via the likes of Vilakazi and Ngcobo, none of whom troubled goalkeeper Evlis Chipezeze.

That proved to be the trend for the remainder of the half, with Chipezeze coming to Magesi's rescue by keeping Msimango's towering header after the defence went to sleep on a corner.

The victors responded with a double change at the start of the second half, with Gaston Sirino and Ashley du Preez replacing Ranga Chivaviro and Ngcobo in the attack.

Sirino's impact was immediate as set up a big chance for Chiefs to pull level after picking out Bradley Cross in the box, but the latter sent his header wide of the mark from six yards out.

While Chiefs continued to threaten, Magesi managed to grab a second goal against the run of play in the 73rd minute when for Amakhosi winger Edmore Chirambadare curled home a neat free-kick from the edge of the box.

However, Chiefs pulled one back three minutes later as Mduduzi Shabalala broke the Magesi offside trap and sent a first-time finish under Chipezeze for his second goal of the campaign.

The visitors were back on level terms in the 77th minute as Shabalala completed his brace with a lovely volley from the edge of the box after Wandile Duba had stuck the upright.

Here's how they lined up:
