With the new season fast approaching, Kaizer Chiefs are facing the prospect of losing one of their most promising young defenders, who has reportedly attracted interest from Europe.
News emerging from Naturena indicates that a European club has expressed concrete interest in Chiefs' young center-back Aden McCarthy, a player coach Nasereddine Nabi had planned to utilise extensively in the upcoming campaign.

Insiders close to the club have revealed to Soccer Laduma that a Dutch outfit has formally inquired about the defender's availability.
"Yes there is interest in him. At the moment its believed that its a Dutch club and there is nothing much we can say. Let's wait and see what happens after this but its believed that they have enquired about his availability because they are interested in him. That's the situation that the team is faced with right now," the insider revealed to Siya crew.
Meanwhile, a second insider indicated that Nabi is determined to retain the young defender for the 2025/26 season, viewing him as an integral part of his defensive plans.

"Its believed that there is interest from a Dutch club in Aden McCarthy but the head coach wants to keep him at the club at least for this season. He wants to have to young defenders in that central defence in Aden and Rushwin Dortley. You know they are both left footed central defenders and its believed coach Nabi wants both of them in the team this season. So that would keep him around for now," the insider observed.
The 21-year-old McCarthy, son of former Amakhosi defender Fabian McCarthy, has already gained some European exposure, having previously attended trials in Moldova before being promoted to Chiefs' senior team toward the end of last season.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment regarding the European interest but received no response at the time of publishing.
