Many fans have wondered why Kaizer Chiefs have found it difficult to sign players they have shown interest in for this season, the Siya crew investigates.
Recent examples include Khanyisa Mayo, Elias Mokwana, and Kegan Johannes, while there are also a few players they are reportedly hoping to bring in before the September transfer window closes.
Siya sources who work in South Africa football at different teams have indicated that there is no team that wouldn't want to work with selling players to Chiefs, that the complications may only depend on finances and negotiations.
Insiders added that in most cases, Chiefs are thought to be beaten at the negotiating table, especially if it involves a transfer fee.
Here follows a perspective on the situation based on professionals from opposing clubs.

"All teams would like to work with any other team including Kaizer Chiefs. No one can tell you that there is a team that doesn't want to work with Chiefs or they don't like Chiefs. Here is where the difference or the problem is: Money," said the Siya source.
"Do they want to pay the money the teams want? Do they have the money? Yes, they have the money but maybe their negotiating skills are different and it takes time until they lose the bid because other clubs are faster than Chiefs. But honestly, there is no reason why teams can't work with Chiefs. There is nothing like that," the Siya source stated.
A second source stated that Amakhosi can indeed pay good salaries, but it is believed that a transfer fee can become a problem in certain cases, which in turn potentially derails the process in signing a player.

"I think the only problem which is the main one is for Chiefs to pay a higher asking price than the opposition team, that is which the other teams are ready to pay. But if we are talking of salary, Chiefs pay very well and if they get a player then he becomes happy at Chiefs. But as I have said, the buying power is what lacks from there. But there is no bad blood between Chiefs and other teams in terms of selling players to Chiefs. It's all about money. As you know, football is business and big business these days," the second source stated.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment on the matter, but there was no response at the time of preparing this story.
