Kaizer Chiefs’ next generation of stars were given the red carpet treatment on Friday evening as the club held an awards ceremony at FNB Stadium to honour their 2024/25 DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) championship-winning squad, and they did so in the presence of some of the biggest legends ever to wear gold and black.

In a special touch befitting the occasion, Amakhosi roped in icons Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Mandla Masango and Willard Katsande to hand out the honours to the rising talents who carried the club to glory this season.
The DDC team, under the guidance of Vela Khumalo, were the standout outfit throughout the campaign, setting new benchmarks in the process. Not only did they finish top with a record points tally, but they also stormed to the title with a commanding seven-point lead over their closest rivals, the widest winning margin in the competition’s recent history.
Among the night’s standout individual winners was Kabelo Nkgwesa, who walked away with two of the biggest honours, Most Improved Player and Player of the Season. His growth over the campaign clearly caught the eye of teammates and coaches alike, as he played a crucial role in the team’s title charge.
Goalkeeper of the Season was awarded to the ever-reliable Takalani Mazhamba, while Pheko Phago earned the Players’ Player of the Season award.
Meanwhile, Naledi Hlongwane, who often led the line with flair and instinct, received the Top Goalscorer award to round off a night of pride and celebration for the club’s youth structures.
