Kaizer Chiefs attacker Keagan Dolly feels it's good that their next match comes not long after their Nedbank Cup exit, as they are determined to get back to winning ways and build some confidence in the team.
Amakhosi were dumped out of the knockout competition by TS Galaxy over the weekend, going down 1-0 after a Phathutshedzo Nange error allowed Augustine Chidi Kwem to score the only goal of the game and all but end the Soweto giants' chances of finishing the campaign with a trophy in the cabinet.
Despite the defeat, and the fact that they look set to finish the season without a trophy, the Amakhosi players are still motivated to get back onto the field and try to redeem themselves. They travel to Cape Town to take on Cape Town City, who were also knocked out of the Nedbank Cup. The two sides meet in the Mother City on Tuesday.
"Obviously we are very disappointed. Not only because we lost, but the way we played. I don't think we were ourselves on the day. Our movements off the ball, our pressing shape, I think it was not us. It's good that we have a game on Tuesday, so that we can recfity our mistakes and get our confidence back," Dolly said via the Amakhosi department.
"The game on Tuesday is a good chance for everyone to come back and just try do our best to win on the day. Every season we want to compete for trophies, we want to win for ourselves and for our supporters. It was disappointing to go out like that, especially so early in the competition. We shift our focus to the league and we should do our best to reach the highest we can in the league. Let's start on Tuesday.
"I came to Chiefs because I wanted to win trophies. I think we have the players to do so, we have the quality. To go out so early is really disappointing. I was really upset, I was sad. But we move on. We just need to start being consistent on the field. Once we start being consistent, we will compete for a lot more."
