How Mshini Stole The Show Vs Pirates...

Yusuf Maart's wonder strike might have stolen the headlines for Kaizer Chiefs, but their head coach was full of praise for a different player altogether, following his Soweto Derby performance over Orlando Pirates.

After a number of off-field issues, one of them losing his father, and a lack of form, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo had arguably his best game for Chiefs this season in a sold-out FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Zwane revealed how he capitalized on Miguel Timm's absence in the Bucs midfield to devastating effect as it allowed 'Mshini' the freedom of the midfield.

"Mshini came to the party and gave us balance there because we needed someone who can stay on the ball a little bit longer and connect with the front three at the right time and Mshini did exactly that, though he ran out of steam towards the end of the game," Zwane told journalists after the match.

The coach gave an in-depth explanation as to how the pint-sized midfielder was used as the link between his side's midfield and attacking line, which gave Pirates much pondering to do.

"We prepared Mshini, reason being that we knew [Miguel] Timm was out, and he has given Pirates very good balance in the middle because he can fight for the ball, but he can also play. So, whoever they were going to play between [Fortune] Makaringe and Goodman [Mosele] was always going to be to our advantage and that's why we decided to bring in Mshini because we knew he was gonna operate behind them, so that means we don't have that strength in the middle and yet when we defend, we force them wide," Zwane said.

For Chiefs, their domestic exploits have temporarily been halted for the FIFA World Cup, although Amakhosi will once again be in action when they take part in the Carling Black Label Cup on 12 November.
