Zwane Comments On Billiat & The Expiring Contract

Zwane Comments On Billiat & The Expiring Contract

Khama Billiat

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane was unable to commit to the future of Khama Billiat, with the player's contract coming to an end in June.

Billiat is expected to be out for the rest of the campaign after the club confirmed that he has gone for surgery, putting his future with the Soweto giants in doubt.

The former Zimbabwean international has not featured for the side since the Soweto derby in October last year as he works his way to full recovery. He will be turning 33 in August and only time will tell if Amakhosi are prepared to keep the former Mamelodi Sundowns man beyond the expiration of his deal in June.

Zwane, though, did not want to comment much on the matter when he was asked how much of a say he has in whether or not the player stays at Naturena.

"Look, everything boils down to one thing; profiling players, the plan for next season. I am not going to say who is going to be part of the team next season or who is not going to be part of the team. We don't know, as we stand. Only time will tell," Zwane said to media during a Nedbank Cup press conference at the PSL offices in Parktown, Johannesburg, on Monday."

On Billiat's injury, Zwane said the player is aware that it's part of the game and it's beyond his control.

"Khama is a big boy. He understands that these things do happen in football. They are a part of the game. Some of the things are beyond our control. We just hoping that things will change for the better. We have been encouraging him, but not only him. Mathoho has been in a similar situation where he has been battling with injuries...(Phathuthedzo) Nange, Cole Alexander. They are going through it and they are dealing with it because the team is also offering help psychology."
