Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of former Cape Town Spurs player Asanele Velebayi, a player they have been interested in for a while.
This comes after the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber declared the midfielder a free agent, following a dispute with his former club Spurs.

After Spurs were relegated to the ABC Motsepe League from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the club and Velebayi were locked in a legal battle. The player still had a contract with Spurs, but believed he was no longer bound by it because of Spurs' relegation to the amateur ranks.
Spurs tried to hold onto the player, but the PSL DRC declared the player a free agent this week, giving the green light to Amakhosi to sign the player. Chiefs were interested in Velebayi before the start of last season. They were unable to sign him, but they now get the player on a free.

Youngster Luke Baartman is also locked in the same legal battle and could be declared a free agent in the near future. Should that happen, he is also expected to be unveiled by Amakhosi.
