Giovanni Solinas Responds To Gustavo Paez

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has responded to Gustavo Paez's remarks and criticism, which have been directed at him.

In his interview in edition 1138 of Soccer Laduma, Paez made some remarks suggesting that Solinas was behind his lack of progress at Chiefs during the Italian mentor's time as the head coach of the club.

According to the 29-year-old striker, his relationship with Solinas was affected by the handshake incident during Macufe Cup match against Bloemfontein Celtic last year, with the Venezuelan alleging that the coach 'lied' to him in saying there was no problem between them about the incident.

"The coach changed completely towards me after that. He didn't want to greet me and I couldn't understand what was happening because he said he was fine after the match. Before that match, the coach used to call me every day to check on me and ask how my son was doing and things like that. We had a good relationship. So, he lied to me when he told me after the Celtic game that everything was fine between us (giggles). Before that, I had played in a few games because (Leonardo) Castro was injured. I scored in the game against Free State Stars," the striker said in his explosive and emotional interview, in part.

Contacted for comment, Solinas was coy about Paez's remarks, with the coach telling the Siya crew that he prefers not to give a comment.

"Thank you so much for contacting me, I appreciate (it). No comment about Gustavo Paez," said the coach.

Don't miss out on the interview with Paez in this week's edition of Soccer Laduma, about his time at Amakhosi under Steve Komphela, Solinas and Ernst Middendorp, and a whole lot more.
