Matlou, who joined the Soweto giants from Swallows FC in 2022, has made 40 appearances in Amakhosi colours.
While he’s yet to cement himself as a nailed-on starter in the midfield, the 27-year-old has provided versatility and work rate when called upon.
Recent reports suggested that Chiefs were prepared to part ways with the midfielder as part of their squad overhaul under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.
However, well-placed Siya sources close to the deal have now informed the crew that negotiations over an extension are at an advanced stage and the deal should be finalised soon.
The decision to retain Matlou is understood to be influenced by the club’s desire to maintain depth in central areas, particularly with the number of new signings still settling in and others yet to be finalised.
