Pirates & Chiefs Linked With Highly-Rated Senegalese Forward

Senegalese forward Opa Nguette is eyeing a return to top flight football, with the Betway Premiership firmly in the sights of his camp for a potential move ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Nguette, a free agent after previously turning out for Turkish Cypriot outfit Magusa TGSK and having enjoyed a long spell at FC Metz in France, has had his representatives looking to explore opportunities in Mzansi, particularly with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs – two of the biggest clubs in the country and on the continent.

Having also featured for Senegal at international level, the 30-year-old offers experience, versatility and pedigree, qualities that could be appealing to ambitious clubs looking to bolster their attacking options for next season.

A source close to the player confirmed the interest in the South African top flight.

“Yes, he is a free agent for now as he has been busy sorting out some issues, but he is ready for a comeback and the PSL is one of the leagues targeted for his return to competitive football. Talent is there and there has been no doubt about that, and all that he needs right now is an opportunity to prove himself once again, and he needs the right project,” the source revealed.

Nguette, who can play across the forward line, would bring a different dimension to any PSL club willing to take a chance on him.

With both Soweto giants actively exploring attacking reinforcements, his name is now being whispered in the corridors of power at Naturena and Houghton.

Having previously been linked with moves across Europe, a new challenge in Africa could now be the ideal springboard for Nguette’s career revival.
