After Kearyn Baccus and Bernard Parker both missed Kaizer Chiefs' big clash with Mamelodi Sundowns, Ernst Middendorp is sweating on yet another big Amakhosi player…
The Glamour Boys managed to cope without Baccus (ankle/knee) and Parker (ankle) after they weren't deemed fit enough to feature in the 2-0 win over Masandawana on Sunday, with Willard Katsande and Njabulo Blom coming in to help them get the job done.
It remains to be seen at this point how long the duo face on the sidelines and whether they will be able to return for this weekend's Soweto Derby, but now Middendorp has another worry to consider after Reeve Frosler had to come off after 35 minutes against Sundowns.
Frosler, 21, looked to be holding his hamstring as he limped from the field at Loftus Versfeld half an hour after he set up Samir Nurkovic's opening goal, with Blom taking his place on the right-hand side of defence in what was a forced change for the German coach.
Now, with Itumeleng Khune expected to miss this weekend's encounter with Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo still on his road to recovery and Baccus/Parker doubtful, Middendorp will be hoping that his first choice right-back can be available for selection following his latest setback.
The South African international did have a problem with his hamstring earlier this month but was able to return against Cape Town City and start v Sundowns, though now only time will tell whether he is able to line-up against the Buccaneers or not.
