Zwane On Pressure At Chiefs: It Has Never Been Easy, Even Before Me…

As he closes in on his first season as Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on the pressure he has faced at the helm of Amakhosi.

Zwane is 23 games into his maiden stint as Chiefs coach.

In that time, he has amassed 10 wins, six draws and seven defeats in all competitions – a record that puts him amongst Amakhosi's finest coaches in recent years.

In a bid to end the club's ongoing trophy drought, which has now entered its eighth year, Zwane managed to progress to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win over Maritzburg United.

However, despite his side's extra time progression, Zwane has admitted to the pressure of overseeing a team with the magnitude of Amakhosi, although he is fully focused to restoring the glory days at Naturena.

"It comes with the pressure of working for a team like Kaizer Chiefs, where people expect the results week in, week out. It has never been easy, even before me, coaches have found it difficult," Zwane told the club's website.

"That's why we don't want to focus on the past; the past is gone. What is it that we can do now? What is important is to improve the team; make it better going forward and change the fortunes of the Club and start winning trophies again," he continued.

Zwane and his side will switch their attention to DStv Premiership action next week as they take on Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium.
