On the back of Ernst Middendorp alleging about non-existent relationship among colleagues in the PSL, former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has a completely different view.
Following the recent league match between Pirates and Cape Town Spurs where an apparent squabble between Middendorp and his counterpart on the opposite bench Jose Riveiro ensued, the experienced German mentor suggested that there is no good relationship among coaches in the league.
"Colleagues being colleagues in the soccer industry, in particular here in South Africa, it's not existing," said Middendorp, in part, talking to the media afterwards.
Sredojevic, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew, has praised PSL coaches while not ruling a possibility of a return to Mzansi in future to add to his previous two spells with the Buccaneers.
The Good
"Everyone in the South African football family know how much I love and respect the country and its football. That unique atmosphere where there is no enmity and there is just sports rivalry. From that point, I can just say that we haven't got enough people to look at how much work is still to be done in African football. I will still be a servant and soldier of African football. African football is a lake with my crocodiles, and I have swum for the last 23 years, and I am willing to continue swimming for the next 23 years. Regarding returning to South Africa, it's possible because there is so much work to be done. At any given time, when my club in the future recognise that I am able to help in any way and whatsoever, I always stand available. I am wishing you all the best South African football family wherever you are and whatever you do, may the Almighty God, Allah, or whatever you believe in, give you the best in your future endeavours and challenges," said Sredojevic.
The Bad
On regrets in his career
"Life of football is not a bed of roses. There are always ups and downs in this career, and all I want to say is that it will be very hard in the long journey of 23 years to find that there are not some regrets. There have been the happiest moments like when 1 million people were waiting for us in Khartoum after we (Al-Hilal Club) beat Raja Casablanca in Morocco to qualify for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League. Also, when over 1 million of people celebrating in Kampala after qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations (with Uganda), as well as featuring in derbies (with several big clubs around the continent). However, what I want to say is that in life it so important that in the final account of whatever you do, you have more pluses than the minuses," he said.
The Ugly
"Yes, minuses are part of life, and they are lessons you learn. But the happy moments have been much more, and this is exactly how it is. This is a reflection of commitment, dedication, hard work, struggles, suffering and sacrifices that you put in. Disappointments usually lead towards getting the sense of bouncebackability," concluded the Serbian.
Would Micho make a difference at big club like Chiefs?
