The story
Before getting the opportunity to stack trophies at Mamelodi Sundowns, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Tebogo Langerman made moves at the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.
"Vila" made a name for himself at Wits, enjoying a record of 36 goals and 15 assists in 195 matches, including a Footballer of the Season Award and the Absa Premiership Player's Player of the Year after a stellar 2013/14 campaign.
Langerman was a goal-scoring machine as a forward at the Clever Boys, with eight goal contributions in 15 games for Wits’ senior team before being snapped up by Matsatsantsa and converted into a fullback.
Both legends gave credit to their former coach at Wits, Roger De Sa, for pushing them to reach new levels.
"Before SuperSport, credit must go to Eric Tinkler and Roger De Sa," stated Langerman on the iDiski Dine podcast with Obi Knows and former Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele.
"Roger used to always motivate me. For every assist and goal he would give me R2,000. He would push me. If I scored two, I would get double," shared Langerman, with Vila affirming his former teammate's sentiments.
"If you're talking about Roger De Sa, you speak about a father figure. He sees you as more than just a player, he sees you as his own, as his child, he treats you like that," said Vilakazi, heaping praise on the veteran coach’s man-management skills.
"He knows what to whisper in your ear, he’s more of a motivational leader," added Vila on the iDiski Dine podcast.
