The "world's fastest man", Usain Bolt, has decided to hang up his boots following what was a short career in professional football. Have you seen the news?
After undergoing various training sessions with the likes of Stromsgodset in Norway, Borussia Dortmund and South Africa's very own Mamelodi Sundowns, Bolt decided to give pro football a crack with Australian side Central Coast Mariners.
The eight-time Olympic champion was offered a short training deal with the A-League outfit last year, with the hope of securing a professional contract.
Bolt even scored a brace in his first proper match for Mariners, a friendly in October 2018, and took to his Instagram account afterwards to express his delight at realising one of his dreams.
Things did not work out as planned, though, and he left the Australian club in November last year, with reports suggesting that they had failed to meet his wage demands.
At an event in Kingston, Jamaica, on Monday, Bolt confirmed that he is no longer pursuing a football career.
"I don't want to say it wasn't dealt with properly, but I think we went about it, not the way we should and you learn your lesson, you live and you learn," he said, according to Television Jamaica.
"It was a good experience. I really enjoyed just being in a team and it was most different from track and field, and it was fun while it lasted."
It's been widely reported that Bolt will now focus on his business endeavours.
Do you think Bolt had what it takes to be a pro footballer?
