Let's take a closer look at Kgatlana's day in Soweto...

Kgatlana shares her story

Announced in July this year, the Rebel Girls book series partnered with Nike football and Nike women to put together a series of stories that spotlight inspiring women footballers.

Thembi Kgatlana is one of six ballers spotlighted in this series and she's alongside Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala, as the African stars involved.

The Banyana star, who's still recovering from her serious injury at the AWCON, read her story along with a group of young girls from the Good Moves program at the Shapa Soweto centre.

Her story chronicles her introduction to the beautiful game as an 8-year-old, in a sport that was dominated by men and boys.

The story also details Kgatlana's goal that sent Banyana to their first FIFA Women's World Cup in 2019.

Take a look at the Banyana baller's message at the end of her story:

"The world has a lot of things to offer. You have to know what you want to do, and then go for it. Your journey is your journey. Embrace it, and live life to the fullest. Never compare yourself to anyone. Even in your lowest moments in life, you still have power in you to be yourself."
