The story

Thabiso Monyane shared an impassioned message on Instagram following his departure from Orlando Pirates, marking the end of a 13-year journey with the club.

The 25-year-old right-back will not have his contract renewed after an injury-marred 2024/25 season.

Monyane expressed that he's experiencing mixed feelings regarding his release from the only professional football team he's ever played for.

"As I close this chapter of my life, I'm filled with a mix of emotions – sadness to leave behind the only football home I've ever known, but also excitement for the new journey ahead," shared Monyane.

"Joining the institution at 12, this club has been my everything. I've grown as a player, but more importantly, as a person. I'm grateful for the trophies we've won, the memories we've created, and the friendships that will last a lifetime," added Monyane.

Having been promoted to the senior team in 2019 after progressing through the club's youth ranks, Monyane made over 90 appearances but struggled in recent seasons due to recurring injuries.

Despite the setbacks, he played a role in the team's recent success, helping Pirates secure six trophies — four MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups.

The baller went on to thank the Happy People for the support he's received from them over the years and the club's chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, coaches and club staff for shaping him into the player he is today.

"To the fans, thank you for your unwavering support. Your cheers, chants, constructive criticism and passion fueled me every step of the way. I'll never forget the electric atmosphere you created on match days.

"To the chairman, staff, technical team, and players, past and present, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and camaraderie. You've all played a role in shaping me into the player I am today," wrote Monyane in his emotional farewell message.
