The story
2018 MTN8 winners Cape Town City lost their PSL top-flight status on Wednesday afternoon in a narrow 1-0 loss at Olympia Park Stadium.
Orbit College became the latest newcomer to the Betway Premiership having topped the PSL Promotion mini-league table with an unassailable five points gap ahead of Casric Stars and CT City.
After the full-time whistle blew, City's drop to the Motsepe Foundation Championship sparked plenty of banter online, mainly from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates supporters who did not take kindly to the club's banter after their wins over the Soweto giants in January.
Stellenbosch FC, who have won four of their last five meetings with the Citizens, came out with a tongue-in-cheek post in reaction to their neighbours being relegated.
Stellies' social media team shared a meme featuring an N2 road sign. The sign displays Stellenbosch's name next to an upward-pointing arrow, while "Cape Town" is shown next to a downward-pointing arrow.
