The story
Veteran South African winger, Skudu Makudubela, shared a not-so-pleasant travel vlog on his Instagram account on Thursday.
The AS Vita Club baller called out Swiss Airlines for the poor treatment he and his wife, Innocentia, received for their holiday in the English capital, London.
The couple pointed out that the first red flag came when they were charged an extra R18,000 for wanting to change their departure dates, due to not receiving their Visas on time.
On their way back to South Africa, they missed a return flight (costing them R45k) to OR Tambo International after their connecting flight from London to Zurich was delayed. The couple chased their flight from Zurich to Jozi, to no avail, after the border gates were closed before their flight home had taken off.
"Having to go through such when travelling with my wife was just crazy… No compensation whatsoever. No accommodation was provided. We were stuck in the airport transit section for 23 hours. Some airlines… and when you take it up to complain, you don’t get a response from them," wrote Skudu on Instagram.
The ex-Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, Marumo Gallants and Young Africans winger chronicled the poor service they received from start to finish, including not being able to secure the second flight out to Jozi due to the steep prices of the Business and First Class seats that were available.
In not receiving any accommodation, the couple were forced to sleep on uncomfortable mattresses at the airport, with Skudu confirming they weren’t able to receive Transit Visas due to not having Schengen Visas.
