The story

Club Brugge winger, Shandre Campbell has opened up about his Bafana Bafana aspirations, after helping Amajita claim the COSAFA Cup Under-20 crown for the first time in four years.

Campbell, who joined Club Brugge's development side, Club NXT, this season scored in Amajia's 2-0 win over Zambia in the final and walked away with the Player of the Tournament award.

Speaking to Andile Ncube on Metro FM's Sports Night Amplified, the 19-year-old stated that he's willing to grind it out with the under-20's before breaking into Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana set up.

When asked about how he feels seeing age-mate and Orlando Pirates starlet, Relebohile Mofokeng getting his chance in the senior national team, Campbell believes his time is still coming.

"You know I always say God's timing over mine, so, if I have to go through 120 firsts to get to the first team of Bafana Bafana, I will do it with a smile on my face and I really don't care what other people say as in like 'Yeah, he's not ready yet' whatever, it's okay," he said.

"I know my way through football and the route I had to take to get to Bafana Bafana. Rele is a good player and he deserves to be in Bafana Bafana. So, nothing against him, I love him, he's my dawg and my path is different and we will play together sooner or later. Definitely, I will make the team," concluded the SuperSport United youth product.
