The story
During a stellar 18 months or so of domestic and international football, Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams is ready to leave a lasting impact on the beautiful game.
"Ronza" has been winning awards with regularity, including a Yashin Trophy nomination and top 10 placement at the 2024 Ballon d'Or awards.
The shot-stopper is on an inspiring run that will likely place him among Africa's greatest keepers, and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup will provide Williams another platform to exhibit his supreme talent between the sticks.
In his chat with Daniel Jones on a Soccer Bible feature, Williams spoke wholeheartedly about his commitment to leaving a strong legacy, both on and off the field.
"I want to leave something lasting, beyond the field. That's why I launched the Ronwen Williams Foundation. It's about education, inspiration, and creating opportunities — especially for those coming from the kind of places I did. The goal is to pull more young people out of gangsterism, drugs, and hopelessness, shared Williams, who has hosted football clinics during school holidays at his alma mater, Gelvandale Primary School.
"We've already started amazing projects. For me, this legacy — helping shape communities — it'll mean more than any medal ever could," added Williams.
