The story

After making his 50th appearance in the MTN8 final this past weekend, Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng's talent is gaining overseas traction.

Mofokeng produced a memorable cameo for the Buccaneers in a thrilling 3-1 comeback win over Stellenbosch FC in Durban on Saturday, making history as the first team in the Premier Soccer League era to win three MTN8 titles in-a-row.

At just 19, Mofokeng has become a key figure in the Pirates' senior squad since making his debut in early 2023 after dominating the DStv Diski Challenge.

He's now scored the decisive goals in both last season's Nedbank Cup final and this past weekend's MTN8 final, not only adding silverware to a growing collection, but also garnering the attention of European clubs.

Scottish journalist, Derek Clark, from the club-focused publication, Rangers Review, spoke to football talent scout Jacek Kulig about the prospect of the starlet joining the Glaswegian giants next season, as well as the type of player the teenager is.

Kulig, rather bravely, compared 'iPresident Yama 2000' to Brazilian mega star, Neymar Jr: "Fans can expect a great show from left-wing," said the scout on what Rangers supporters can anticipate if the youngster joins the Scottish giants next season.

"I compare Relebohile to Neymar, of course it's a bit exaggerated, but let's be honest, these comparisons aren't always serious. But you can expect a great show, he's a great dribbler, he's very small, a very tiny player. But has great technical ability, he's very creative on the ball, he loves to nutmeg players and loves to dribble, so you can expect something really special," noted Kulig.

The European scout also pointed out that if Mofokeng were to move to the SPL side, he won't make an impact right away, "Do you not expect him to make a difference in the first season. For me, this is rather a project for Rangers, a project for the next three years. He needs to adjust to European football, Scottish football but it [would] be a promising signing for Rangers."
