The story

After Kaizer Chiefs were placed back on their perch by ending a decade-long trophy drought with a 2-1 victory over fierce rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, fans and various groups from across Mzansi celebrated the win.

From the South African Government's official Twitter/X page to Olympian athlete Akani Simbine and club legend, Siphiwe Tshabalala – Amakhosi's triumph received widespread praise and support.

Matchwinner Yusuf Maart lifting the Nedbank Cup on Saturday marked the first time in exactly 10 years and one day that an Amakhosi captain has hoisted a trophy of any kind, with Tefu Mashamaite being the last Chiefs skipper to lift a trophy at the end of the 2014/15 league season, 9 May 2015.
