“I Like It For The Pirates” Superfan Reportedly Passes Away

“I Like It For The Pirates” Superfan Reportedly Passes Away

An Orlando Pirates supporters branch has taken to social media to announce the death of a popular Orlando Pirates fan.

Check it out...

What's the story?

Orlando Pirates' Gugulethu branch shared the shocking news of the death of Goodenough Sithole.

The mega-fan is known for his viral interview with SABC Sports, where he struggles to properly articulate himself in English and where he earned the "Five S'kibhas" (spelt as "Skippers") nickname.

Let's take a closer look at the interviews that made him famous and a statement from the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts Recreation.

RIP Goodenough Sithole

"We convey our heartfelt and deepest sympathy to his family, close friends and everyone who was close to him.

"May our heavenly Father comfort you all during this extremely difficult time," said the Pirates Gugulethu supporters branch on Twitter on Friday morning.

Sithole's passing confirmed by the Buccaneers later on Friday, with a number of the club's supporters branches and MEC Morakane Mosupyoe, from the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts Recreation taking time to mourn Sithole:

Sithole stood out for his undying love for the Buccaneers and his beaded hair, black shades and traditional attire.

His most famous moment came when he was interviewed by Deshi Bhaktawer on SABC Sports, where he passionately expressed his love for the Sea Robbers:

He's had other notable interviews, one with Sports presenter Andile Ncube at the Gauteng Sports Awards almost a decade ago:

Another comedic moment from Sithole came from a Street Radio interview, where he dropped the classic "Is not make sure" line:
