Al Ahly Consider Spanish Giants For Stadium Opener

Al Ahly and FC Barcelona Establish New Partnership

A delegation from Egyptian giants Al Ahly embarked on a trip to Spain to visit FC Barcelona as part of coordination efforts between the two clubs.

Al Ahly President Mahmoud El-Khatib and the Chairman of Al Qalaa Al Hamraa (The Red Fortress) Company, Mohamed Kamel, led the Red Devils team to exchange expertise with the Catalan club,  a club statement said.

FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta welcomed the team to Spain, where it was revealed that discussions took place to gather insights into Barcelona's pioneering experience when it comes to developing its stadium.  

The discussion also looked at the establishment, management and the financial revenue generated from the Barcelona museum. 

The statement revealed that Laporta was happy to be cooperating alongside Al Ahly and Al Qalaa Al Hamraa and acknowledged the Red Giant as one of the world's biggest teams, stating there would be benefit for both sides in the partnership.

El-Khatib thanked Laporta for the welcome and hospitality and extended an invitation to Laporta to visit the club soon.  

According to Mundo Deportivo, El-Khatib pitched the possibility that the Blaugrana would be the first opponent at the inauguration of the new stadium in 2029.

Kamel revealed his excitement at the new partnership and to execute the new Al Ahly Stadium project, noting the progress made in the infrastructure and technical developments, while some companies are also interested in strategic partnerships and sponsorships.

This forms part of a comprehensive commercial plan to turn the project into a world-class sporting and commercial landmark.
