The story
Ahead of the all-important Nedbank Cup final with Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates announced a new club-themed hotel room in the Mother City.
As stated by the Buccaneers' social media pages, the hotel room is at the Protea Hotel Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge, and it's officially open for bookings.
It’s not the first Bucs-themed room to be done by Marriott Bonvoy, with similar rooms being found at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Johannesburg, Melrose Arch.
In a statement released by Pirates' accommodation sponsors, the new themed room "features a striking design that blends the Orlando Pirates' signature black-and-white colours with a coastal aesthetic."
The statement also revealed that the room features signed Bucs memorabilia, a custom-designed bathroom with a geometric pattern that resembles a football and a frameless acrylic panel featuring Orlando Pirates players.
One of the standout features of this room is the graffiti-inspired artwork by Cape Town artist, Murray Cowan, which depicts a fan shouting — symbolising the passion of the Happy People.
"With this launch, we're extending the Orlando Pirates partnership beyond Johannesburg, giving football fans in Cape Town — and those travelling with the team — a new way to immerse themselves in the spirit of the club and their love for the game while enjoying the city's vibrant atmosphere," said Marriott International's Senior Commercial Director in Sub-Saharan Africa, Dorcas Dlamini Mbele in the aforementioned statement.
