The story
2014 FIFA World Cup winner with Germany, Bastian Schweinsteiger, spoke on his love for the classic South African song, "Shosholoza", which he learnt during South Africa’s edition of the World Cup.
The baller was in South Africa last month for the UEFA Champions League trophy tour with Heineken, and in his chat with SuperSport TV, he addressed a viral video of him singing Shosholoza at a restaurant in Cape Town.
"Yes, you know the story is that during the [2010] World Cup here in Jo'burg, after our last training session before our semi-final against Spain, lovely people from South Africa who were working for FIFA, lined up and started singing the song [Shosholoza]," shared the former FC Bayern and Manchester United midfielder.
"Whenever I hear that song, I think about South Africa. It's the same feeling when I see or hear a Vuvuzela," he added.
He was asked to sing the song in his interview with eNCA – he started off the famous chorus before the rest of the news team joined him.
