The story
Four-time Betway Premiership winner, Bongani Khumalo, spoke extensively about his time in Europe after the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Capped 43 times as a South African international, Khumalo's solitary goal in national team colours was against France at the World Cup, a towering header that helped Bafana Bafana outplay France 2-1 in their final Group A match in Bloemfontein.
Khumalo‚ then 23 when scoring that goal, gave South Africans plenty of hope of securing an unlikely 4-0 win over Les Bleus, which was needed for Bafana to make it through to the knockout stages on goal difference.
His 20th-minute goal was followed by a 37th-minute strike from striker, Katlego Mphela, before Thierry Henry scored a consolation goal that dented Bafana’s hopes of progressing.
Relive the goals below:
In his chat with "iDiski Dine", Khumalo recalled the pressure he felt in the tunnel before walking out in front of a packed Free State Stadium.
He broke down how he brilliantly read Siphiwe Tshabalala's cross for his goal, pointing out that the time he and "Shabba" spent together as roomies before the World Cup helped him to understand the Kaizer Chiefs legend's crosses a lot better.

At the end of 2010, Khumalo's time at SuperSport United came to an end after he was signed by Tottenham Hotspur, following a successful trial.
Khumalo was on the books at Spurs until 2015, and during that time, he was loaned out to Preston North-End, Colchester United, Reading, and to Greek side, PAOK Salonika before returning to Mzansi to reunite with Gavin Hunt at Bidvest Wits.
