The story
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Linda Mntambo recently spoke about having an identity beyond football.
Addressing the media at Sekhukhune United's partnership launch event with Kelme, Mntambo mentioned that not only he, but also other players, are footballers on the pitch and that they carry their names and identities first, before their profession.
Mntambo was likely speaking from his perspective as Babina Noko's skipper, a role he's grown into over the last couple of seasons, with the 2024/25 season proving to be a success as the club finished fourth in the Betway Premiership.
"Above everything, people should understand that we are footballers for 90 minutes, after that, Linda has to be Linda. I cannot live as a footballer, I still need to show who Linda is, and people don't see what that does to the changeroom," said Mntambo
If there's any South African footballer who embraces their individuality and being themselves, it's Linda Mntambo.
Whether he's dancing with teammates, singing to some R&B jams in his car, or working his creative magic as a fashionista, Mntambo never shies away from showcasing his true self.
Here's a look at some of his best fashion moments in the off-season:
