The story
Former Bafana Bafana striker Katlego "Mahoota" Mashego has taken a trip down memory lane to look back at his move from Orlando Pirates to Golden Arrows back in 2011.
The Bushbuckridge-born striker, who was a bit of a journeyman in the PSL, turned out for the Buccaneers, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United, Golden Arrows and Chippa United, having started his career at Hellenic and Silver Stars.
Mashego managed 60 appearances for Ezimnyama Ngenkani and managed 245 goal contributions during his time at the club, which included one of his five league title wins in the 2010/11 season.
In a preview of his interview on the Apex Sports International podcast, Mashego detailed how his move from Bucs to Golden Arrows went down in July 2011
Mashego and midfielder Gert Schalkwyk joined Arrows, while the Buccaneers secured the services of defender Siyabonga Sangweni, who went on to inherit Mahoota's number 21.
The 43-year-old got candid about how he was summoned by the Pirates chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, at the club's HQ before taking a drive to the airport, where, to the striker's surprise, they met up with Arrows' chairman Mato Madlala and Sangweni.
