The story
The Southern African football fraternity is in mourning after former Zimbabwean international and ex-Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro passed away at the age of 40.
While the exact circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, reports suggest he was found unresponsive at his apartment in Johannesburg on Monday.
Ndoro made a name for himself at Zimbabwe's Chicken Inn before earning a move to Mpumalanga Black Aces (now Cape Town City). He later turned out for top-flight South African clubs including Pirates, Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs), and Highlands Park.
After being affected by illness, he retired in 2020 while at Highlands. Ndoro featured in 112 matches for Pirates and earned 14 caps for the Zimbabwe national team. He also plied his trade in Botswana for Nico United and in Saudi Arabia for Al-Faisly.
From Ndoro's ex-clubs to his former teammates, a host of tributes poured in for the ex-Buccaneer.
