Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Ayanda Patosi shared a heartfelt video of Arsenal Legend Ian Wright, expressing his pride in the 32-year-old for his career.
Patosi hails from Khayelitsha and was part of the Africa Soccer Development (ASD) Academy, and when the Cape Town base of the academy was opened, Ian Wright, who was involved with the project, headed to the Mother City to witness the talent up close in 2009.
It was revealed in a story published by FarPost in 2024 that, as part of his visit, Wright, who was involved in ASD’s scouting network at the time, chose Patosi out of the 30-odd ASD Academy players to interview.
Patosi reposted parts of this interview on his TikTok account, showing Ian Wright speaking to him and his mother from their informal home in Khayelitsha, Section C.
After resharing the career-altering interview with "Wrighty", Patosi then shared a video of the well-liked English Premier League TV analyst sharing some heartfelt words of pride towards him.
"Ayanda, my friend, I am so happy for everything that you have achieved at this point. God has blessed you deserve everything you're getting," shared Wright in a video shared by Patosi.
