The story

Amakhosi's Rwandan recruit in goal is proving to be a solid investment so far, as Fiacre Ntwari is showing signs of quality shot-stopping and distribution as the club's number one.

Although the Kigali-born shot-stopper is yet to keep a clean sheet for his new club, he's expected to push Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen to up their game in between the sticks.

As head coach Nasreddine Nabi's top choice in goal for Chiefs' first two Betway Premiership matches, Ntwari has garnered praise from legends like Brian Baloyi and Bernard Parker, while his new teammates also showing plenty of warmth and support.

Ntwari celebrated his 25th birthday in style on Wednesday and after a thumping 3-1 victory over AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban — the club presented him with a giant cake!

His teammates sang enthusiastically as Ntwari received his cake with the scenes showing positive signs of togetherness in the Chiefs camp.

With Itumeleng Khune out of the picture, Ntwari has a golden opportunity to hold down a starting spot at the Soweto giants for the foreseeable future and what better place for him to earn a first clean sheet against the lethal Masandawana on Saturday afternoon.
