The story
Josta Dladla recently opened up about the weight of the famous Kaizer Chiefs jersey, which has seen countless players, particularly over the last decade, failing to live up to its high expectations.
Dladla spent six years at the Soweto giants, making 119 appearances, with 18 goal contributions and just one red card for the retired right-sided midfielder.
Dladla won three of his professional trophies with the Glamour Boys, including two league titles in the 2012/13 season and his final season at the club, 2014/15.
It's safe to say that the 45-year-old knows a thing or two about the pressure of representing Kaizer Chiefs, and he spoke extensively about the weight of the jersey on the George Mokoena Podcast.
When asked how a player should handle the pressure of donning the gold and black of Chiefs, Josta answered: "Do well, play well. You've been selected, you're one of the select few who get to wear it. The people who wore it before you have won cups and championships."
Dladla added: "It's heavy, it's heavy in the sense that you can't lie to the people. The game will expose you; if you are a scam, you will be exposed. It's about consistency, the legends did it season in and out. You see, these boys can do it, but they do well today and not the next day. The guys before us set the standards."

Dladla, who enjoyed a short stint with Danish outfit Aarhus GF before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004, also explained why some South African footballers get homesick once they're in Europe.
