The story
South African football fans are being treated to back-to-back Soweto derby matches on consecutive weekends, with part two taking place in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
In last Saturday’s league derby, Mofokeng hogged the headlines with a late winner for the Buccaneers in a 2-1 win, with the pre-match style of both sides also becoming a talking point.
Kaizer Chiefs stepped out in their new apparel collection with Old School, wearing Ivory-coloured knitted jerseys with the club's name embellished in the centre of the top.
Titled the "Kaizer Chiefs Premium Range" by Old School, the jersey worn by the Chiefs players is valued at R1 999, with the collection also featuring a green crewneck sweater (R1 399), box-shaped t-shirts in black and white (R949) and a rugby-style "Ulitimate Jersey", priced at R1 499.
Here's what the Old School co-founders/owners, Daneel Steinmann and Stephan Steinmann, had to say about launching Chiefs' collection at the derby:
Orlando Pirates' collection was launched a day before last Saturday's derby, revealing clean and timeless garments for supporters to wear.
The "Orlando Pirates Derby Range" centres around the club's skull and bones for its emblem. One of the standout pieces includes a white "Orlando Pirates Xbone Crew Knit LS Jersey", valued at R1 699, as well as the black knitted, collared jersey that's priced at almost R2 500.
