Tebogo Reed opened the scoring after just 20 minutes after heading home Rodney Ramagalela's cross, before he completed his brace in the 60th minute.

Nine minutes later, Sundowns added a third thanks to a strike from Willem Malinga, as the Brazilians maintain their unbeaten record in the competition.

Bloemfontein Celtic's unbeaten run in the tournament came to an end after they were beaten 2-1 by SuperSport United on Saturday afternoon.

Thabani Mthembu had given SuperSport the lead midway through the first half, before Roscoe Pietersen took advantage of some poor marking to double the lead in the 65th minute.

Wayde Jooste pulled one back for Celtic late on, but it wasn't enough, as SuperSport held on for the win and climb up to second in Group A behind leaders, Celtic.

Moroka Swallows are still searching for their first win of the tournament after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Maritzburg United.

Swallows took an early lead through Nkosinathi Nkambule's superb header, that was only their third goal of the tournament.

However, Morgan Van Rooyen's 30th minute penalty proved to be enough for Maritzburg to claim a point.
